At Dishes of India, we cook traditional Indian dishes the way they are meant to taste. Everything is made fresh , from tandoori chicken to vegetarian curries and biryanis. Our chef still uses recipes and spice blends he learned back home in New Delhi.

Dishes of India opened in 1997, started by Chef Ramanand Bhatt. He began cooking as a teenager in India and later worked for Air India before opening his own place here. Now, his sons help run the restaurant. It is a full family effort and that is what makes us truly unique.

It is all about freshness and balance. We roast our spices in-house and never cut corners with sauces. You will notice each dish has its own flavor because the same base is not reused. That’s what keeps regulars coming back year after year.

We are in Belle View Shopping Center at 1510 Belle View Blvd, Alexandria, just off the GW Parkway between Old Town and Mount Vernon. There’s plenty of free parking right outside.

Yes we have a buffe on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for lunch. This buffet gives our guests the perfect balance between vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes so that you do not have to miss out on anything. Buffets are a popular option with families and first-timers.

Lunch runs from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and dinner is from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM (until 9:30 on weekends). The last seating is about half an hour before closing so the kitchen can finish orders properly.

Of course. You can order online or by phone for pickup. For larger groups, we do catering and party trays for offices, birthdays, and community events. Everything is packed fresh and ready to serve.

Yes, we have plenty of them. We have always had a big vegetarian following because paneer, lentils, and vegetable curries are some of our best sellers. Just let us know if you are vegan or gluten-free, and we’ll guide you through the menu.

We are located on the lower level of the plaza, so there isn’t wheelchair access at the moment. We understand this can be an issue and try to assist guests however possible. Takeout can be brought to your car if needed.

We accept all major credit cards. Most guests pay at the table, but if you order online through Toast, you can pay directly there too.
